Information we collect

Enquiries

If you contact us through the website or by email, we receive the details you choose to give us, such as your name, email address, company and the content of your message. We use this only to reply to you and to follow up on your enquiry.

Technical logs

Our hosting provider and network security service keep standard server logs, which can include IP addresses, browser type and the pages requested. These are used to keep the site secure and running. We do not use them to identify or profile visitors.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use cookies. We use Plausible Analytics to understand how the site is used. Plausible is a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics tool: it does not set cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track visitors across other websites. There is no cookie or consent banner because no cookies are set. We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking.

How we use your information

We use the information you give us to respond to enquiries and provide the information you ask for, to arrange demonstrations or support, and to meet our legal and accounting obligations. Our basis for this is your consent, or our legitimate interest in responding to you and running our business.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the website and our business, and only as far as they need it to do their job. These include our website hosting provider, our email provider, and the form and anti-spam services that handle a submission when you send us a message. Each of these acts on our instructions.

About the Plant Insight software

This section describes how the Plant Insight software handles data. It is separate from the website above.

Plant Insight runs on a host machine on the customer’s own plant network. It reads from the plant historian on a read-only basis, so it can read plant data but cannot change anything in the historian or the control system, and it does not copy or replicate the historian. The reports, conversations and insights it produces are stored on that host machine on the plant network, and database and service credentials are held there encrypted.

To answer a question or generate a report, Plant Insight sends the query and the specific data needed to answer it to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic), which processes it on our behalf to produce the written answer. The historian is not uploaded in bulk, and Plant Insight does not store plant data outside the plant network. Where the customer is the controller of this data, the detailed processing terms are set out in the data processing agreement supplied with the software.

How long we keep your data

We keep enquiry information for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry, then delete it. Technical logs are kept for a short period by our providers and then rotated.

Your rights

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. To exercise any of these, email us at privacy@plant-insight.com.

You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority. In Ireland this is the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
